v-stars/s photogrammetry system

Portable, off-line, single sensor 3D measurement

Description
The V-STARS/S system is a single camera, 3-dimensional coordinate measurement system based on photogrammetry. The V-STARS/S system consists of a single high-resolution intelligent digital camera (INCA), notebook computer, V-STARS software, and accessories. This 'off-line' measurement technique is known as s-mode measurement.

Operation
In operation, the single camera system is used to record digital images of the object from several different locations. The system measures the location of high contrast retro-reflective target points. By imaging the object from several different locations, the points on the object are seen from enough geometrically diverse locations to support determination of their spatial positions by triangulation..

Accuracy
The achievable accuracy in s-mode is typically better than 1:120,000 of the size of the object, or 0.040mm on a 5.0m object.

Portability
The V-STARS/S system is extremely portable and the entire system, including notebook computer, camera and accessories, is packed into two small cases that can be hand carried aboard an aeroplane. The entire system can be transported anywhere in Australia and the world, and be immediately available for work.
