v-stars/m photogrammetry system

Real-time, multiple sensor, 3D Measurement System

Description
The V-STARS/M system extends the single-camera V-STARS/S system and enables two INCA cameras to be directly connected to a notebook computer to produce real-time measurements.

Operation
In m-mode two INCA cameras image an object simultaneously. The information captured by each camera is transferred, via ethernet, to the notebook computer where it is immediately processed and the XYZ coordinates are provided within seconds. M-mode is generally used to track multiple points or measure the XYZ location of a hand held touch probe in real-time. The touch probe is fitted with a standard CMM tip and is capable of measuring almost any tooling feature.

Functionality
In m-mode the cameras can be moved without loss of accuracy as the camera positions are located each time a set of images is recorded. Thus, movement of the cameras is fully accounted for and is of no consequence to the accuracy of the resulting measurement.

Accuracy
The achievable accuracy in m-mode is typically better t
han 1:60,000 of the object size or 0.080mm on a 5.0m object
.
