The RAN Seahawk helicopter

For this particular project the VMS flew to Sydney with the entire V-STARS Photogrammetry system. The extreme portability of the system means that no application is too far away from the VMS. This picture was captured just prior to the commencement of the off-line survey. The bright spots on the hull of the helicopter a the retro-reflective targets used by the VMS. The survey was conducted inside the hanger while the aircraft was undergoing a routine inspection.

Results of the Survey

3 days, a little bit of sleep, a lot of hotel pizza, 5,000 points, and the VMS fly back to Melbourne, Victoria for some good old fashion R & R. A combination of both off-line and on-line vision metrology was used to collect the 3D data seen in this image. Most of the data was captured in the forward nose section and rear tail section.
