Monash University
Monash University's Civil Engineering department
is conducting research into how carbon fibre strapping will increase the
load bearing capacity of existing concrete beams, mainly bridge beams.
The VMS has successfully completed a series of surveys to measure 3D deformation
while the beams have undergone destructive testing. The results of the
surveys are being used with more traditional forms
of in-situ concrete deformation monitoring to help define models to predict
how different implementations of carbon fibre reinforcement will influence
load capacity.
Targets per beam: 1500
Deformation measurements per beam: 10 to 15
Accuracy: 0.05mm
