Laser Scanning

Laser scanners

Laser Scanning enables fast, straightforward and accurate measurements of objects and buildings. It records architectural façades, complex structures, production and supply facilities, accident sites, and large volume components.

Laser Scanners are used to measure a facility with a lot of existing detail, such as pipework and complex machinery. The accuracy achieved by laser scanning is between 3 to 10 mm depending on how large the area is. The laser scanner captures a detailed point cloud of an area (up to hundreds of millions of points). The features of interest are then extracted from the point cloud. This technique is quick to capture point cloud data but, depending on complexity, can involve hours or even days of post processing to extract the features of interest from the point cloud.
